Rise of the Ronin is a new game by Koei Tecmo that has released on PC. It seems that the trend of Japanese developers doing terrible ports to PC is going on strong. While Koei Tecmo is busy trying to chase the Souls-like trend, they have forgot one of the most important things to do, that is optimizing their game. Long gone are the days of games being snappy and responsive, having no issue running on current hardware. It seems that people are getting priced out of the hobby nowadays, with the ever increasing PC demands. We at Infinite Start will cover this mess.
Rise of the Ronin slopped out
Koei Tecmo is known for being a studio that does a ton of games with ancient Japan in mind. Many remember the Dynasty Warriors series, which got new entries recently and they were allegedly decent. However, the best and most underrated series from them is Monster Rancher, and its sad we aren’t getting any new games for it, but I digress. Optimization is the cornerstone of success, we can see that Monster Hunter Wilds has also suffered from Mixed reviews. However, the case with Koei Tecmo is different, their latest financial report claims that they are considering shifting gears due to game production costs.
This reveals that perhaps Koei Tecmo is not in the best spot, which makes it imperative that they actually try to release optimized games to have success. Rise of the Ronin is unfortunately not that game, and it already bombed on PC, perhaps patching can save it but first impressions are everything nowadays. People will just move to the next product and the next, appreciation has died and many are unable to understand games anymore. People are junkies of excitement, trying to recapture that feeling of magic that this hobby once brought upon us.
It is sad to see the medium dying away due to greed and other bad practices, often made to extract the most amount of money from players.
