Monster Hunter Wilds’ Success is due to an Emphasis on Story, Immersion and Cross-Play, according to Series Producer

Ryozo Tsujimoto, the producer of the Monster Hunter Series of games, has attributed the massive success of Monster Hunter Wilds to the game’s narrative, polished gameplay and it’s Cross-Play feature which enables a more engaging experience for players across different platforms. As any player of the series already knows, Monster Hunter Wilds puts significantly more emphasis on it’s main storyline compared to other titles in the series, with many players and reviewers pointing out that it’s story and characters feel much more fleshed out and alive (as a result of being fully voiced) than anything else seen from the series previously.

Clearly a lot of work went into the narrative of Monster Hunter Wilds, as the game had provided detailed backstories for all it’s different Monster Hunting activities, which definitely paid off with the gamers in more ways than one. And while the game could’ve benefited from a longer campaign, it does pave the way for a lot more incoming content that’s going to come with it’s first Title Update scheduled to launch in early April. So yes the story which has a lot of room for further expansion, is definitely a strong point of Monster Hunter Wilds, something the game will capitalize even more with it’s post-release contents in the coming months.

Monster Hunter Wilds

In other news of Monster Hunter Wilds, even though the game received a sizable patch 1.000.05.00 just recently, it didn’t bring any sort of performance improvements at all which is really unfortunate as this was the most alarming aspect of the game and the main reason why it’s still sitting on a ‘Mixed’ user review rating on Steam. The subpar performance (even on PC’s that far exceed it’s recommended system requirements) is currently something that Capcom really needs to iron out, or it can hurt the game’s popularity in the long run, especially on the PC platform. Hopefully the game receives a patch specifically targeted to address it’s performance problems pretty soon.
