MapleStory is yet again caught scamming its players. This is quite ironic, since it feels as if they were rushing to profit before the EU Law against this. This is not the first time that the company Nexon scams millions of PC players with deceptive micro transactions. This sort of scum behavior proliferates thanks to the lack of regulation in this industry plagued by fraud and deceit. It has been brought to the attention of many that Nexon is currently promoting a fake loot box. We at Infinite Start will cover this disaster and give solutions to the issues caused.

MapleStory has to be one of the oldest MMO titles in the market, still being able to run in potato hardware is one of the reasons this one is still popular. However, whales are also addicted to this game like many other gacha MMOs. Nexon is totally aware of the player base it has and does its best to exploit the weakness of them. There’s still many Asian players who are hopelessly addicted to paying micro transactions for a game that remains pretty much the same.
Yearly, Nexon has planned scams such as this. Not being clear with how the loot boxes work seems to be the norm. Content found in them is vastly different than the one advertised, and sometimes even completely wrong compared to the “descriptions” in the store. This is an illegal practice that can be punished by the law, as there’s already a strong framework that will become even better if EU regulation updates.
Those who moan and seethe about law changes that try to protect them are ironically the same people who moan about games doing this. If gamers were more educated about these changes, then they would realize they are being exploited by companies. We at Infinite Start hope that Nexon pays the price.
