Heroes of Might & Magic is a very popular spinoff of the Might & Magic series. Held by 3DO in the past, this series of games focused primarily on strategic combat and mechanical depth. Heroes of Might & Magic 3 is renown as the best game in the franchise, with people still playing it to this day. All of the entries are pretty good, but 3 always takes the crown. Now, Unfrozen is developing Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, and it seems to be exclusive to PC. The game is however published under Ubisoft, so we can hope this one doesn’t suffer any quality drop thanks to them. We at Infinite Start will discuss what we know about it.
Heroes of Might & Magic is back
Many people hope that this new game lives up to the legacy that the previous installments left. Of course, we can’t expect them to tread back to replicate the older days in a one on one fashion, by using pre-rendered graphics and such. However, the graphical style of this one looks neat, and from certain angles, the maps look as if they were pre-rendered. Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era is the official prequel hailing back to the origins of the genre defining, critically acclaimed series of turn based strategy games. You can explore the map solo or in multiplayer mode, and decide the fate of the world as you play and conquer maps.
There seems to be an emphasis on your ability to choose, whether to save the world or plunge it in chaos. This opens up a lot of narrative focus that, if exploited correctly, can prove to be beneficial to the lore of the series as a whole. The game will release on the second quarter of 2025, and we expect it to be amazing. If you are a big fan of the series, do yourself a favor and wishlist this one.
