Ubisoft added Steam achievements to WatchDogs after a decade

After years of being dropped in a bare bones state, Ubisoft added achievement support to the Steam version of Watch Dogs. Now players are able to enjoy the classic title and have a reason to play another run of it too. It is surprising it took so long for this to happen, but it becomes obvious when we realize this is Ubisoft.

A decade of hacks

Watch Dogs as a game was a very interesting concept that should have been in the hand of other studio. We play as Aiden Pearce, in a journey to get revenge against the person who caused tragedy to your friends and family. To do this, Aiden has the ability to control and hack in every system in Chicago. While technology is often seen in a good light, the world of Watch Dogs shed light on how dangerous it is to fully transition to the Internet of Things.

Not many people cared about this warning however, we can see issues arise with tech in the real world. And let’s not mention that Watch Dogs isn’t particularly original about the concept, or even that realistic for a 2014 game. Compared to games like Mega Man Battle Network, who literally predicted an incident about microwaves being hacked, in the year 2000.

As kinda sloppy that Watch Dogs is, Ubisoft follows suit by being sloppy at their job too. After a decade or more, Ubisoft added achievement support to the PC version of the game. Now you have more reasons to play the title and enjoy the narrative and action surrounding it. There is a fan base around the title that still thrives, awaiting for a proper revival of the series. Perhaps if Ubisoft stops being sloppy, they can put out an amazing title to please the fans and recover from their current blunders.
