In the age of remakes and remasters, it is common to see various old games unearthed. However, The Sims Legacy Collection disillusioned most of their players by not getting this treatment. Not everything is bleak, the collection garnered a decent amount of success despite this. We at Infinite Start will cover the outlook on this collection.
The Sims have been with us since the early 2000s, this ever popular series always had a very strong fan base. Nowadays, people fondly reminisce the older days when EA didn’t charge you tons of cash for DLC that should be in the base game. Leaving the terrible ethics of EA aside, it is important to acknowledge both sides of the equation today. The Sims Legacy Collection disillusioned some players due to its lack of remastering. However, many people are completely okay with being able to play this classics in newer systems.
An aspect that gets neglected when remastering things nowadays is respect towards the original feel of the game. Many unnecessary changes have been carried over on multiple remakes and remasters that tarnished such things. From balance changes, to so called Quality of Life features, some of them were forced to become easy games. Not to mention the graphical side of things, some old games have been ruined by modernization.
25 years ago, The Sims was groundbreaking with its simulation of funny everyday events. It was nice to see how everything interacted and how weird could things get. Modding is also another aspect that brings these games to life. Entire communities are dedicated to expanding these older titles with multiple creative features.
The Sims Legacy is still living with us, many people still play the newer entries. However, there is value in delving back to the past to experience what it was back then. More simple times where weird things happened in your little virtual life simulator. It is nice to be able to reminisce those days.
