The First Descendant Receives Valuable Hotfix

Nexon Games has released a new update for The First Descendant, one that addresses the age-old problems of player issues on Void Erosion Purge. Hotfix 1.2.7 brings balance adjustments to weapons, enemy spawn locations, and difficulty levels to make the game more accessible and enjoyable to play through endgame content. It is all part of the studio’s ongoing tweaking of the game and reaction to player feedback, especially on the issues encountered in the Void Erosion Purge mode.

Since its launch, The First Descendant has had mixed responses with some commending its co-op action but others bashing its endgame mechanics. Void Erosion Purge, which was meant to be a trial of an end-game scenario, has become the worst nightmare, with weapons being called subpar and spawns considered too aggro. Later, Nexon made some extreme changes. Elite Wardens’ ranged attack is now reduced in power, and Normal and Elite Trackers no longer apply the Chill status effect. Further, enemy spawn rates have also been revamped in stage 21 and later for better-balanced fights. Solo players also see better balancing, and members playing in groups of two to four will see Commander Monsters nerfed slightly.

The patch also enhances weapon performance in Void Erosion Purge. Attribute attack values are higher, weapons are stronger in battle, and ammo drop rates have been made more substantial. Players now have sufficient resources for long battles. There are also new policies for awarding rewards to ensure that the players are rewarded equally even when they are punished. These updates, though an improvement, are still not yet optimal according to game director Minseok Joo, who confessed more fine-tuning is required.

Future patches in The First Descendant will concentrate on more balance changes for playable Descendants and further development of Void Erosion Purge. These will have longer in coming, however, as ongoing development continues on The First Descendant Season 2 Episode 2. Nexon has promised players that it is working actively to receive feedback so that the game is better, with further information on further changes forthwith.
