Team Buddies is often lauded as Psygnosis take on the Worms franchise. However, thanks to the fact that Psygnosis basically died after this game, we can assume that it didn’t do too well in sales. This is not a testament to the games quality though, as it actually holds up pretty well to this day according to fans. A mysterious listing has appeared of the game on Steam, without any release date on top. A new team under the name Kaeru Interactive seems to have bought the license for it. We at Infinite Start will cover this incoming retro game revival.
Buddy up in Team Buddies Remaster
Kaeru Interactive mysteriously dropped a listing on the Steam store for this unexpected remaster. There is no information on why and how this new team of Japanese individuals acquire the title, but it is still welcome. Kaeru Interactive not only plans to port the game for PC players, but it also wants to remaster the experience too. One selling point of this package, according to the Steam page, will be the ability to play the game in higher resolutions. The most important addition however, is multiplayer features on a game that really needed to be expanded and rebalanced.
Team Buddies is an interesting and unique take on strategy, often lauded as quite experimental by fans of it. This weird RTS game has you stacking crates to receive different power ups, or even new buddies to join your team. By careful planning and management of these resources, your objective will be to amass lots of power over your opponents. Once that is done, confronting them in battle should be done as soon as possible to prevent them from snowballing.
The remaster will include new and expanded maps with loads of new and rebalanced weapons too. So if you are a fan of the original, or never heard of it and want some fun with your buddies, wishlist Team Buddies on the Steam Store.
