Splintered has a demo on Steam right now that any PC player can test out. This new indie game provides a retro JRPG experience like never seen before. Splintered is basically a randomized Dragon Quest title, mainly inspired by retro game randomization hacks. In Splintered, players will be able to traverse ever changing worlds where every single thing shifts. Items, monsters, and even the entire map is at the mercy of the RNG gods, but you have to brave it all if you wish to win. We at Infinite Start will cover this new and ambitious title.

Splintered will offer players tons of fun with its interesting mechanics and randomized gameplay. The structure is also quite different to your average JRPG too, hearkening back to the old era of the first Dragon Quest on the NES. By using the older JRPG formula, they managed to come out with something new and refreshing. Indie games are often those who push boundaries and try to risk it all, creating ambitious experiences that are a sight to behold. Splintered is one of those titles where RNG needs to be in your favor, but there’s also skill involved while playing it. The ability system is interesting, not only you level up, but so does your equipment with you.
By leveling up equipment, one can unlock powerful abilities that can help you brave the dangers of a randomized world. The art of the game is another factor to take into account, clearly a love letter to the one you find in earlier Dragon Quest titles.
