Exodus, the upcoming sci-fi action RPG from Archetype Entertainment, is now officially targeting a release sometime in 2026. Built by a team of veterans from Mass Effect and Dragon Age and made up of AAA game developers with a successful track record, Exodus will be a third-person shooter-style game with rich storytelling and focus on player choice.
The game is being created by James Ohlen, BioWare’s golden age’s brightest star, with credits on such legends as Knights of the Old Republic and Baldur’s Gate. His team at Archetype Entertainment, a Wizards of the Coast subsidiary of Hasbro, features Mass Effect lead writer Drew Karpyshyn. With pedigree this high, Exodus is creating a buzz among sci-fi RPG fans.
Exodus Gets 2026 Release Window
In a recent Hasbro earnings call, CEO Chris Cocks emphasized that the game would be released in 2026. He feels that the game does have a future, citing Ohlen’s pedigree and the ambition of the studio. Exodus is also prominently listed among Hasbro’s long-term growth plans, with whispers of significant marketing initiatives in the lead-up years.
A Planet-Hopping Adventure With Narrative Depth
As seen so far, the title is following in the footsteps of Mass Effect with a massive sci-fi universe to explore. The title is an action, stealth, and story game with a branching narrative where the player’s choices will have extreme consequences.
The initial trailer of the title, revealed at The Game Awards 2023, officially announced the involvement of Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey. The lore of the game was further explored in Secret Level, an animated anthology series on Prime Video, where one of the episodes focused entirely on Exodus in December 2024.
With a release window in the works, Exodus will experience additional promotional materials being dropped throughout 2025. Fans waiting for a new spin on storytelling-driven sci-fi RPGs will be paying attention as more information becomes available.
