Peripeteia

Peripeteia has released on PC, and its breakcore Deus EX

Peripeteia is quite the interesting, breakcore filled stealth shooter that came out in PC. It is clearly inspired in many shooters from the 90s. Lots of work has been put into this game and the soundtrack is truly an interesting choice. Indie titles always come up with the most interesting and weird ideas, and Peripeteia is no different when it comes to that. We at Infinite Start will cover this new adventure.

Peripeteia, a weird Polish future

Peripeteia is a first-and-third-person game, mixing shooter, stealth and RPG mechanics, similar to the Deus Ex Series. Heavily inspired by immersive sims made by Ion Storm and Looking Glass Studios, Peripeteia expands upon the formula with original ideas and an unexplored setting. In an alternate history cyberpunk Poland, a young cybernetic super soldier named Marie must make her way as a Mercenary in a post Soviet city full of corruption and opportunity; where nations, powerful factions and ideologies clash.

You will be forced to use your skills and unmatched battle prowess to complete tasks shrouded in conspiracy and mystery. In this world, your skills to survive are highly valued, more than your combat ability. However, when that fails, your assassin senses will come handy to solve issues too. Peripeteia has tons of verticality, and its truly breathtaking, one of the selling points of the game. To add to the game, we have a wonderful breakcore score that accompanies the moody aesthetics carried along with this dystopic scenario.

Breakcore as a genre is pretty much an evolution of the Jungle genre in the 90s that was all around us in many games and in culture too. It is pretty much a nihilistic take on what is otherwise a relatively peaceful and optimistic genre, sort of a critique of the future we currently have. Jungle used to be quite about the opposite in fact, its was about the future to come, and how advancements would provide us with a more peaceful society, but we know that didn’t happen.

If you are interested in trying out this new game, you can download a demo on Steam and buy it if you like it too.
