NetEase Commits to 10 Years of Support for Marvel Rivals

NetEase Games has announced that it will support Marvel Rivals for at least 10 years, ensuring a long-term future for the hero shooter. Since its late 2024 launch, the game has attracted over 40 million players, solidifying itself as a major success in the competitive gaming space.

A Decade of Updates and New Characters

Even in its early months, Marvel Rivals has seen major updates, including new characters, skins, and maps. The game launched with 33 playable heroes, and the entire Fantastic Four has since joined the roster. With NetEase planning to introduce a new character every 45 days, players can expect about eight new heroes per year, adding up to nearly 80 characters over the next decade.

Beyond characters, fans can also look forward to new maps, skins, and seasonal events. The first season of Marvel Rivals focused on the Fantastic Four, but leaks and teasers suggest that future updates could introduce Angela, Odin’s lost daughter, and a possible Hellfire Gala-themed season.

NetEase’s Long-Term Plan for Marvel Rivals

The 10-year support plan was revealed during NetEase’s Q4 earnings call, where the company emphasized Marvel Rivals’ massive success and long-term potential. Though no specifics were shared beyond the timeframe, past updates give a clear idea of what to expect moving forward.

Recent updates have included:

  • Valentine’s Day wedding-themed skins
  • New heroes like Ben Grimm (The Thing) and Johnny Storm (Human Torch)
  • New game modes and seasonal content

With decades of Marvel stories to draw from, NetEase has plenty of material to keep the game fresh for years to come. Players can expect a steady stream of heroes, cosmetics, and events, making Marvel Rivals one of the most ambitious live-service titles in the Marvel gaming universe. As of present, Marvel Rivals is already a leading hero-shooter in the industry, and from the looks, it doesn’t seem like the title would slow down its pace anytime soon.
