Disco Elysium developers allegedly archived their game

The Disco Elysium developers suffered terrible abusive conditions thanks to the publishers. As always, publishers tend to reap all benefits while dumping artists away as if they were trash. But the publishers behind Disco Elysium have gone the extra mile to steal the game from the developers. We at Infinite Start will cover this epic win.

Thieving from thieves

Back when Disco Elysium launched in 2019, the waters of drama started to rise. It was brought to the attention of many that the Disco Elysium developers were mistreated. As it usually happens in the industry, publishers tend to behave poorly with developers. Most of the time, these publishing companies are detached from reality when it comes to many things. It is rare to see a publisher that treats their developers with care, but the Disco Elysium Developers suffered the most.

This is a reason why many developers opt to go for the most expensive route, self publishing. Self publishing comes with many risks but, as long as the project is small, it can be sustainable. Unfortunately, Disco Elysium isn’t a project like that, and due to that, it was imperative to deal with a publisher. It saddens many to see that the developers and artists behind the game got back stabbed by such greedy corporate people.

Thankfully, retribution is a thing that exists. It seems that some of the developers have decided to archive their game. The Internet Archive now hosts a proper download that anyone can have access to. The version of the game is the latest one, and everything seems to be working out of the box. It is up to debate whether it was the developers themselves, or a third party who did it. But the only ethical way to play Disco Elysium is to just grab this one from the Archive and donate to the Disco Elysium Developers. Rather than cave in and buy it on Steam to succumb the evil CEOs. After all, you don’t own digital purchases.
