Crytek layoffs are hitting very hard to many. Around 15% of their workforce is to be removed from the company. It is especially complicated to find proper work positions in the gaming industry, so it is sad to see the departure of so many talented individuals. The size of Crytek however, is very big for a company of their caliber, and they should have been more careful with their expansion plans. Now Crytek is also forced to displace the development of Crysis 4, leaving it in the back burner for now. We at Infinite Start will cover more details after the break.

Crytek or Crymore

Compared to other companies who have laid of thousands of employees, regarding them as scum or disposable, Crytek took a sensible approach. Despite the layoffs, the company did promise in an official announcement that “affected employees will receive severance packages and career assistance services”. We can hope that they will keep their word and actually bring proper compensation, jobs are very hard to find nowadays, and cutting them like nothing can be disastrous.

While it might be true that their current business was unsustainable when it comes to growth, it is important to respect those who helped you reach where you are. However, not many companies care about this, and they will often just cut costs as much as they can. By cutting costs, they can also cut you away from a position, payment is hard to upkeep for their goals apparently.

People would prefer if companies didn’t focus on massive growth spurs and tried to be more sustainable. The competitive of the market and whatever new corporate terms pop up however, does not particularly care about the well being of the employee. We can hope that Crytek didn’t opt to do this out of greed, but out of actual genuine need to keep going forward.
