Treyarch has rolled out a fresh Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 update, which fixes a series of weapon balance changes that failed to kick in during the previous Season 2 Reloaded patch. The patch also features a 24/7 Bullet map playlist and resolves significant Ranked Play and Zombies mode issues.
The Season 2 Reloaded patch, which was launched late last week, introduced new 6v6 multiplayer maps, some melee weapons, and a huge crossover with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, adding the four turtles to the game as well as special events and challenges. Before long, however, players were whining that most of the promised changes to the balance of the weapons were not properly implemented. Four guns and three attachments were impacted, both Black Ops 6 multiplayer and Call of Duty: Warzone being impacted. Treyarch and Activision later confirmed that the bug was an error in the sense of the technical kind, not misprinted patch notes.
The largest addition to this patch is the Bullet 24/7 playlist, which includes one of the most imaginative multiplayer maps in the history of Call of Duty. Bullet is an adrenaline-fueled map on a traveling, rail-station bullet train where players fight within the train cars and atop the traveling locomotive. The frenetic, dynamic play has already caused controversy among the Call of Duty community.
Along with the playlist, the patch also finally drops the long-anticipated tuning to weapons. All of the GPR 91 assault rifle, Feng 82 LMG, SWAT 5.56, and Tsarkov 7.62 marksman rifles are rebalanced, in addition to fixing two attachments. The Under Barrel Crossbow attachment still has part of the changes in place and will have the remainder in a forthcoming patch.
The patch also addresses an issue with players not being given proper Skill Rating (SR) updates during Ranked Play since the Season 2 Reloaded patch. Though this issue was already resolved on February 20, Treyarch is now pondering an option to reward affected players.
For Zombies players, the patch fixes a critical crash when suspending a match. The Citadelle des Morts map Oil Trap kill tracking bug has also been undone.
The patch places Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on notice as it enters the last few weeks of Season 2. Now that the weapons are all settled and with the addition of the Bullet 24/7 playlist, players will have plenty to play through before Season 3 arrives.
