As of early 2025, the PS5 reveal trailer has amassed a total 44 million views and 1.6 million likes, but the Switch 2 trailer appears to have the potential to surpass the PS5’s total likes and views in the near future.
While the Switch 2 trailer seems to be performing well, it has not yet matched the early view count and likes of its predecessor’s reveal which was posted in October 2016. The Switch 1 reveal video in question achieved 19.5 million views within two days of its release, although it was later removed from YouTube, as reported by VGC.
The high engagement with the Switch 2 trailer identifies the console’s anticipation among Nintendo fans seeking a hands-on experience soon. Analysts estimate that Nintendo plans to ship approximately 20 million units of the Switch 2 during its first year, a 25% increase over the original Switch’s launch estimates. The Switch console faced severe shortages at launch which was even more so in the global pandemic.
Nintendo is building on this excitement with global pop-up preview events scheduled from April to early June 2025. Fans will get their first hands-on experience with the Switch 2 at these events. Before then, a dedicated Nintendo Direct on April 2 will provide further details about the console, including its price, launch lineup, and release date. Some rumors suggest the Switch 2 may retail around $449, a 50% increase over the original Switch’s launch price.
