Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s gaming CEO, has suggested that the Nintendo Switch 2 console will get support for several first-party Xbox games, reinforcing some of the recent reports of the upcoming handheld receiving multiple AAA ports from the Xbox platform. This is definitely a great news for all fans of the Switch 2 as this means they’ll be able to play and enjoy some of the best Xbox games on their consoles in the near future.

In a recent interview with Gamertag Radio, Xbox head Phil Spencer has praised the upcoming console from Nintendo and also stated that Microsoft is “really looking forward” to support Nintendo Switch 2 with some of the games from the Xbox platform.

“Nintendo and their innovation, what they mean in this industry, I just always applaud the moves that they make,” Spencer remarked when asked about the reveal of the newest handheld from Nintendo.

“They did a little flash video. I know we’ll get more detail over time. Really looking forward to supporting them with the games that we have. I just think they’re such an important part of this industry.

“It’s hard with what’s publicly out there now about the platform for everybody to get their hands around it, but who would ever bet against the success of that team? They are just masterful in what they do. Switch is a massive success. And I think Switch 2 will be as well.”

Several huge Xbox AAA’s are already reported to arrive on the Switch 2, these include Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and possibly many more. And Spencer’s comments on the interview strongly suggest that we’ll be seeing more Xbox titles for the upcoming console.

Spencer also applauded Nintendo’s decision to make a bigger console this time around, “My old eyes appreciate the larger screen!”.

“I want everybody to be able to play on Xbox and it does mean more of our games shipping on more platforms, not just PlayStation — we love the work that we do with Nintendo, we love what we do with Valve on Steam, and that’s going to continue, we’ll just continue to do more of it,” Spencer continued.

“Because what we learned is put the games first. Make sure the games can be as great as they can. We love the experience on our own hardware, our own platform. But our games will show up in more and more places, no doubt.”

Besides Microsoft, other publishers such as Squire Enix, Konami and even Ubisoft are also reported to bring some of their titles on the Switch 2 platform.

Nintendo is expected to release more information on the upcoming Switch 2 by April this year.
