Bandai Namco has unveiled a brand-new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered, giving fans a detailed look at its enhanced gameplay systems, updated graphics, and exciting new features. The remastered version of the dystopian action RPG launches on January 10 for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Originally launched for the PS Vita, Freedom Wars was Sony’s response to the success of Monster Hunter. While it traded Monster Hunter’s wilderness settings for a futuristic dystopia, its core gameplay loop was similar. Players battled massive mechanical enemies known as Abductors, harvested resources, and upgraded their gear for increasingly challenging missions.
Freedom Wars remastered brings a host of improvements, including:
- Enhanced Graphics:
- PS5/PC: 4K resolution at 60 FPS.
- PS4: 1080p at 60 FPS.
- Switch: 1080p at 30 FPS.
- Faster Gameplay:
- Improved movement speed and fluidity.
- The ability to cancel weapon attacks for smoother combat.
- Crafting and Customization Overhaul:
- Redesigned interfaces for ease of use.
- New module synthesis system, allowing rescued citizens to help enhance equipment.
- Deadly Sinner Difficulty Mode:
- A brutal challenge designed for hardcore players.
- Full DLC Integration:
- All customization DLC from the PS Vita version is included from the start.
Set in a resource-starved dystopian future, players assume the role of a Sinner, someone sentenced to endless servitude for the “crime” of being born. Missions—ranging from rescuing citizens to destroying Abductors—are completed to reduce the player’s sentence and contribute to their Panopticon, a city-state vying for dominance. These missions can be tackled solo or with friends via online co-op.
The trailer also showcases a more streamlined and engaging experience, making Freedom Wars Remastered an ideal entry point for new players while giving veterans plenty of reasons to revisit the game.
With its mix of updated visuals, refined mechanics, and expanded customization, Freedom Wars Remastered promises to deliver a richer and more polished experience. Fans of action RPGs and dystopian worlds should mark January 10 on their calendars as a chance to dive back into this beloved cult classic.
