Cancelled Minecraft Mob is about to make a comeback

A cancelled Minecraft mob is about to return in a way that no many have expected. The firefly mob was removed due to unspecified reasons. However, it seems that Fireflies will return in a very unexpected way. We at Infinite Start will cover the details after the break.

From mob to block

Back some updates a go, plans to add fireflies got cancelled due to very specific reasons. However, it seems that they are about to make a comeback, but in a form not many expected. That’s right, Fireflies will return as blocks. Fireflies were removed to Microsoft’s unreasonable demands of some of them being poisonous. It is clear how the reach of Microsoft has tarnished the development of the game.

In the midst of making it as realistic as possible, a lot of features and planned content had to be cut. The Microsoft acquisition was one of the worst things that could have happened to Minecraft, as it is now riddled with a myriad of issues. Leaving this aside, it seems that fireflies are about to return in the form of blocks.

The firefly bush block will now be an illumination source, and will spawn naturally on many biomes. It is always neat to get another block to decorate, however, there is already a ton of light sources in the game already. The game would benefit from the addition of actual new mobs to the game, rather than reskinning already existing ones.

We can hope that someday, they do indeed add the firefly mob to the game, allowing players to do multiple things with it. However, the block suffices by providing more materials to decorate multiple settlements. One can for instance make a more natural illumination scheme for their house, or even decorate a garden. After all, the only limit in Minecraft, is the sky, and nothing prevents you from doing as you please on it thanks to its mod potential.
