Bethesda updates classic Doom re-releases to be able to support the long awaited multiplayer mod features. Many fans wondered for years why this wasn’t included out of the box. Being an old game and all, the original version was far better than the re-release due to its continued support by the community. We at Infinite Start will discuss this massive upgrade.

Mods for two

Doom was a massively popular Shooter from the 90s that revolutionized the genre. Not to mention the overall cultural phenomena that it was for its time. Nowadays, the community still remembers and even keeps enjoying the games. Mods made by fans range from various types, such as Quality of Life enhancements, or even whole new games. It is understated how much love there is for this shooter.

After many years of the re-releases for Doom 1 and 2 being out, Bethesda decided to amp up their game. With the addition of Multiplayer mod support, it is now possible to have fun with a lot of mods, but also with a lot of people. To use multiplayer mods, the host needs to boot up their game of choice before accessing the lobby, all others players who subsequently join the game need to be subscribed to the mod in question before doing so.

This cool new feature will allow players to enjoy the game in multiple ways and perhaps, never before experienced. It is nice to see that Bethesda, despite their reputation, have finally tried to do something nice for one of the oldest gaming communities. This sort of support towards modding is something that needs to happen more often in the gaming space.

Players also have an intrinsic craving to collaborate their ideas and help improve a game in case they love it. So giving them the power to do so can prove to be beneficial in the long run.
