Foamstars Now Free to Play; Makes a Substantial Amount of Improvements

Foamstars is now officially available as a free to play title. Not only does this mean players can experience it, plus all the content added across various seasons, it no longer requires PlayStation Plus to experience.

As previously revealed, this season adds boss battles to the PVE mode, and five new maps to Smash the Star.

Five maps will also be added to SMASH THE STAR, including Shoreline Shoppin’ Spree, Rubber Duck’s Spa-larious Oasis, Fusion Coaster Kingdom, Sing Swing Circus from RUBBER DUCK PARTY, and Dancefloor Dreamland from EXTREME PARTY’s Pitchside Homerun Party. In addition, those in the PRIVATE PARTY mode can experience four extra maps from HAPPY BATH SURVIVAL.

Along with additional maps, a new feature called Diamond Trade was added. This addresses one of the biggest issues we had with Foamstars by adding daily/weekly challenges that awards a currency used to purchase optional cosmetics.

Prices range from three all the way up to 777 diamonds. The 333, and 777 diamond items are meant to pair with the Silver and Gold Metallic skins. These are unlocked by playing as the character 333, and 777 times, a choice we criticized when the 1,500 match version was added. That, along with the 3,000 match versions will likely be added sometime in the future.

Assuming today’s challenges hold true for the entire season, players can earn six diamonds a day, 48 a week, and 240 a season. The press release mentions there will also be a special login bonus, which is not currently present, and hope does not refer to the six diamonds that can be earned today. It also does not specify how long the special login bonus will last as well.

A special Legacy gift is available for download. It features 12 Bubble Beast skins, a special Slideboard, and the title “Legacy.” Please note, it’s only available to players who downloaded and played Foamstars prior to Oct. 4.
