Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed to February 2025, Ubisoft Cites Need for More Development Time

Ubisoft has officially delayed the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows to February 14, 2025. This highly anticipated entry in the Assassin’s Creed series, set in Feudal Japan, was originally expected to launch in 2024. However, the developers have decided they need more time to refine the experience, ensuring the game meets the high expectations of fans.

In a post on X/Twitter, Ubisoft explained, “We need more time to polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features.” The company also assured that pre-orders will be refunded, and future pre-orders will come with a free first expansion. This delay, though disappointing for fans, seems to be aimed at delivering a more polished and immersive game.

Marc-Alexis Côté, a lead developer on the project, shared more insights, stating, “Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a dream project for us; finally bringing the series to Feudal Japan with many features developed with our community in mind, such as parkour or the renewed stealth, all set in a beautiful and immersive world.” Côté emphasized that the game features two unique protagonists, and this delay is crucial for enhancing the gameplay experience.

Fans eagerly waiting for a new Assassin’s Creed title set in Japan will have to wait a bit longer, but Ubisoft promises it will be worth it.
