New Alien: Romulus Movie Pays Tribute to Alien: Isolation with Easter Egg

The upcoming film Alien: Romulus will include a special Easter egg that fans of the 2014 game Alien: Isolation will recognize. Director Fede Álvarez revealed that he strategically placed emergency phones throughout the movie as a tribute to the game. In Alien: Isolation, these phones were used as save points, but they also signaled impending danger. Álvarez said the phones in the movie serve a similar purpose, warning the audience that something bad is about to happen.

In an interview , Álvarez explained how the game inspired his vision for the film. “Alien: Isolation was kind of what made me see that Alien could truly be terrifying and done well [today],” he said. He also shared that while working on his film Don’t Breathe, he realized how much he wanted to create a project that captured the same level of fear and intensity.

Álvarez strategically planted the phones in the film, mirroring the tension-building moments from the game. He noted, “When you see the phone, it’s like, brace for impact.”

Alien: Romulus will be released in theaters on August 16, and it promises to take fans of the franchise back to its horror roots, with a nod to the past.
