Capcom announced it will keep making physical games even though digital sales dominate. In a recent shareholder meeting, the company stated it has no plans to stop producing physical copies.

Capcom said many users still prefer physical games. Last year, 90.1% of Capcom’s sales were digital. The company expects digital sales to exceed 93% this year. This shift mirrors industry trends, as more players choose digital games. In the UK, physical game sales dropped by 5% last year, while digital console, PC, and mobile game sales rose.

Capcom Will Continue Producing Physical Games Despite Digital Sales Boom

Despite the rise in digital sales, physical games remain important. For instance, nearly 50% of PlayStation’s first-party games sell as physical copies. Capcom recognizes this and continues to offer physical versions of its major titles, like Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Capcom also releases some smaller titles only in digital format. However, larger titles often see physical versions released later due to fan demand. Alan Wake 2 initially launched digitally, but Remedy Entertainment and Epic Games later released a physical edition.

Capcom’s commitment to both physical and digital media shows its dedication to meeting all fan preferences. The company highlights the role of digital storefront sales in its success. This balanced approach allows Capcom to cater to all markets while embracing the growing digital trend.
