A recent report reveals that the highly anticipated The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered for PC has been completed for several months. According to leaker Billbil-kun from Dealabs, the game’s development finished around November 2023. Despite being ready, Naughty Dog has yet to announce its release date.
The report suggests that the delay might be strategic, potentially aligning the game’s release with the second season of The Last of Us HBO series, which is set to air in early 2025. This timing could maximize the game’s visibility and sales, leveraging the show’s popularity.
Naughty Dog previously released the first installment of The Last of Us on PC, which included the Left Behind DLC. The PS5 received a remastered version of The Last of Us Part 2 earlier this year, featuring new additions like the roguelike survival mode No Return and playable Lost Levels.
Sony has been steadily bringing its PlayStation exclusives to PC, with titles like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn paving the way. It’s no surprise that The Last of Us Part 2 would follow suit, especially considering Sony’s strategy to release single-player, narrative-driven games on additional platforms after initial launches.
