Tango Gameworks Was Developing Two Titles Before Closure

Tango Gameworks, known for Hi-Fi Rush and The Evil Within, was recently shut down as part of Microsoft’s restructuring. This decision came as a surprise, especially since the studio was actively developing two new games. This information was revealed by a developer’s updated LinkedIn profile.

One of the unannounced projects might have been a sequel to Hi-Fi Rush, a game that received high praise and was the top-rated Xbox title last year. Fans speculated this due to Xbox’s previous support for the franchise. The other title is rumored to be a sequel to Ghostwire: Tokyo, a game that was mentioned during the Microsoft x Activision FTC hearing.

The closure of Tango Gameworks has left fans disappointed. Microsoft’s restructuring also affected other studios like Arkane Austin, Alpha Dog Studios, and Roundhouse Games. In an internal email, it was mentioned that these changes aim to create more capacity for investment in priority games.

The industry’s current state suggests that developing great games might not be enough to safeguard studios from layoffs and closures. This news has been a significant blow, as Tango Gameworks was known for its creative and unique projects. Many fans are left wondering what could have been if these projects had seen the light of day.
