How to Defeat Lu Bu in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Anyone vaguely familiar with the Three Kingdoms time period knows the name Lu Bu. He is generally an unstoppable force that rides valiantly into battle, with this being no exception. Since he is another really strong gatekeeper, we wanted to give some tips to make this Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty fight a lot easier.

Editor’s Note: If you’re looking for the second fight you can find it here.

How to Defeat Lu Bu in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Set Up

Even with 25 morale, everything at its highest level, and more this is a hard fight. For this reason I strongly suggest grinding to 25 morale before attempting. It also helps to have water based attacks, and flame based defense, though this fight honestly comes down to how well you deflect attacks.

If you didn’t get it already, also make sure to grab the Dragon’s Cure Pot upgrade. It’s to the right of the checkpoint before the final area, which will help you a lot in staying alive.

Finally, this is a great spot to use companions, but be warned they can go either way. Not only did they do marginal damage, the extra threats made Lu Bu somewhat unpredictable, and harder to control. Still, having these distractions make it easier to damage him, so it comes down to what works best for your play style. I also used Qinglong to keep my companions going. It’s a great Hail Mary if things start go to south.

Defeating Lu Bu

Lu Bu is conceptually the same as the large axe enemies you’ve fought throughout this level. Doing damage to him is nice, though this fight is all about deflecting his critical attacks. If you can do it consistently, it isn’t too bad, but if you can’t it will be a nightmare.

Generally speaking, the best tactic is to keep your distance from him. Even if it doesn’t bait his critical attack, it will give you time to see if he will rush, or jump. Guessing wrong will result in you taking damage/losing morale, so that extra second is invaluable.

Maxing his gauge the first time will knock him off Red Hare. At this point he will get more aggressive, and start to have flame based attacks. He will only do the critical strike in this form, and deflecting him will put the flames out. The tactic is the same, though there is something of a time limit. After a couple minutes he will get back on Red Hare, so you need to either bait him into doing the critical hit, or do enough damage to land the critical hit.

My tactic was deflecting whatever I could, get in a few hits here/there, use powerful magic when my spirit was high, and cautiously wait for his critical strike. It can be stressful, but given enough patience it can be completed.
