Now that the Resident Evil 4 remake has finally launched worldwide, many fans who had previously played the game back when it was released on Gamecube or even newcomers are wondering how long does it take to finish Resident Evil 4?
Depending on the difficulty you pick at the very start, the time it takes to finish the game varies. For someone playing the game on Standard difficulty, it is possible to complete the main campaign in around 10-12 hours. However, if you want to find every treasure and read every file scattered throughout the game, you can expect to finish it in around 16 hours.
Now, if you are playing the game on Hardcore difficulty as I did, you can expect to finish the game in around 16-20 hours, including finding every treasure and reading files in the game.
For those wondering, the game is divided into 16 chapters. Some chapters, especially the first few, can take more than an hour to beat each chapter, while the latter is shorter. The pacing and how fast you can clear the chapter to depend on how well you play the game and how much exploration you are willing to do.
I finished the game. Now what?
Well, if you have finished the game, congratulations! Similar to other Resident Evil remake games that have been previously released, there are a lot of unlockables that you can unlock. If you are willing to go back and beat the game again in a much shorter time, a New Game Plus is available.
Where’s Mercenaries mode?
The highly-acclaimed Mercenaries mode that everyone loved when Resident Evil 4 first debuted on Gamecube more than a decade ago will not be available at launch. It will be released at a later time.
