Is Anker’s Capsule 3 a More Expensive XGIMI MoGo Pro?

Anker announced the latest entry in their Nebula Go Anywhere series of projectors, Capsule 3, is now available for purchase.

The projector quickly made a splash by boasting a number of improvements over their previous generation. Some notable features include boosting the ANSI lumen count from 200 to 300 ISO lumen; ability to project a screen to 120″ instead of the previous limit of 100″; along with finally supporting 1080.

Of the many improvements listed on the site, one thing that started to stand out were the similarities to XGIMI‘s MoGo Pro line.

While the two are very similar in specs, they both do have their own specific lean. Capsule 3 boasts an HDMI 2.1 port, and USB-C power source. As for MoGo Pro, there is HDMI 2.0 ARC connection, and traditional DC power source. This makes Capsule 3 a slightly better portable projector, with MoGo Pro having advantages as part of a home theater. The final difference between these three products is price. The base MoGo Pro model has an MSRP of $499, MoGo Pro+ $569, and Capsule 3 releasing at $799.

Even if the similarities are a coincidence, or just where the market is moving in general, it’s good to see more competition in this space to bring out the best for consumers.
