One of the pitfalls to playing on hard is, well, hard. With the first boss in Star Ocean The Divine Force it took a change in tactic, which made a substantial difference. However, with the Semiomantic Cannons, there are so many enemies attacking that it’s incredibly easy to get destroyed. While I normally try to find a better tactic, my current build just so happened to make the fight a joke. Still frustrating, but a joke all the same. Since I assume others won’t have this luck, I figured we would do a quick guide to make things just as easy.
While I can’t comment on what the absolute minimum for this build is, with the following items I was basically invincible.
Equipment
Passive Skills
It helps to have more health, defense and other things in your favor, but the basic idea is to coast on First Aid. It also makes things easier to level First Aid, but not required.
The basic idea of this build is to exploit how First Aid works. The turrets deal very little damage frequently, which should proc First Aid enough where you never actually die. It helps to have some more passive healing, through things like Auto Healing, but beyond that it just comes down to outlasting them.
The video above is far from the best gameplay, though it shows the boss soloed on hard while healing through their attacks.

I am wondering whether there is a bug with first aid. I have defeated the boss and my characters were being healed by the cannons. That does not seem right, does first aid return 20% of the damage taken ? It looked more like 20% of my hp were restored. Weird.
There shouldn't be a bug. The factor says "12 percent chance of recovering 20 percent of HP when attacked," which should mean you restore 20 percent of your total HP.
