EA Sports College Football has remained pretty much a console exclusive ever since the franchise made a comeback in 2024, however the most recent entry to the series may eventually release on the PC as well, according to recent leaks. MUTLeaks, who has been a reliable leaker in the past, has recently hinted that EA Sports College Football 27 could indeed release on the PC platform, and the indications for the game’s release comes in the form of two SKUs for the upcoming title, namely: “college-football-27-deluxe-early-preorder-edition-pc-ww and college-football-27-deluxe-later-preorder-edition-pc-ww.”
These are some of the results of data mining and highlight several strings of file referencing the PC platform and even pre-order editions including entries labelled. Now while these don’t automatically translate as concrete proof of the game coming to PC, but it shows there are indeed strong possibilities for College Football 27 to arrive on the platform in the near future.
One of the main reasons for the series to not arrive on PC could be legal concerns surrounding the licensed players and their protections which could be altered in a myriad of ways through mods by the community and that could become an issue in more ways than one. Although it’s reported that EA wants to make sure this doesn’t happen and the publisher “has been working on this for a long time, and they wouldn’t move forward until they are confident that there won’t be any legal problems.”
In fact, some mods in the past have also gone as far as to rebuild entire presentation packages that didn’t exist in the game and restoring real life teams from earlier eras of the sport.
So it seems EA might disable mod support entirely or will have some form of initiative that prohibits any alterations to real life players’ outfits, clubs and other real world stats which could attract legal attention.
