The God of War series is one of the most iconic franchises in gaming with titles ranging from whole different time periods within the world and each to great effect, except the most recent Sons of Sparta which is currently the lowest rated game in the whole series. And it seems the new Norse saga in God of War which kicked off with the release of 2018’s God of War, is about to expand in a different but interesting direction as developer Sony Santa Monica is reportedly working on a new game that focuses on Faye, who is Kratos’ wife and the mother of Atreus.
The major spinoff set in the Norse saga in God of War was first hinted by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier where he said the ongoing project is “a new franchise within the God of War universe.” After that, reliable leaker NatetheHate had also confirmed that the next big title in the God of War series would be centered on the character of Faye, which should be interesting in many ways and mark a new flavor of gameplay from the last two releases which is God of War 2018 and God of War: Ragnarok.
NatetheHate wrote: “Here’s what I have heard: Yes, the game is set within the God of War universe & the lead character will be Faye. Gameplay is said to differ from the Norse God of War games with more of a focus on action. Current plan: Reveal this year/release first half 2027 – barring any delay.”
In other news of the iconic series, a Remake of the older, hack-n-slash based God of War trilogy has been announced during the recent State of Play event. Also, the most recent title in the series, Sons of Sparta, has received mixed response from critics and is currently the lowest rated title in the franchise.
