GOG is the go to place to get your games and truly own them, and it seems to be changing ownership as we speak. Gamers are a bit confused because of this, since its coming back to the original co-founder who used to operate it and had relations with CD PROJEKT. Today, Michał Kiciński, one of the co-founders of CD PROJEKT, and the original co-founder of GOG, has acquired GOG from CD PROJEKT, hopefully this change is a good one as it would benefit many of us who care about owning and preserving games.
GOG changes hands
Michał Kiciński assures us that this is a beneficial change that was needed, because coming into 2026 we will have a ton of new options to make our voices heard and help with the archiving process of old games. Classic titles from the GOG Dreamlist have been popping up recently and this has been something amazing to see happen, with many fans voting for favorite titles such as Dino Crisis and even Digimon World, one of the best games of the original PS1 library if you ask me. Some have even voted a bit too much for it, boosting its position with bot tools, but the issue has been fixed since.
There’s tons of love for old games, now more than ever considering the type of quality we are getting. Old games with remain with old forever, and as the saying goes old is gold, a ton of modern games feel pretty dated because the only thing they provided are graphical experiences that were amazing for the time and nothing else. We could classify the era of 2010s triple A games as this, interesting games from a graphical stand point with very dated gameplay elements. 2020 feels a bit different this time around, but it is still not a good place to be. GOG helps us go back to better times.
