Star Citizen might be the best live service ever, but its more likely that it will be the biggest crowdfunding scam of all time. It has now reached a massive goal of $1 billion in funding, something insane for a game that does not even have the guarantee of coming out ever if they decide to pull the plug on it. The people behind it are basically nearing the 1% of the population who controls a ton of things, but people keep spending money on dreams. The virtual ships are also overpriced, so this is the reason why they have amassed such a huge amount of funds.
Star Citizen is a scam
Its interesting that they didn’t get properly investigated yet, nobody is doing anything about this obvious scam, and in fact people keep feeding it more cash to make it even bigger and enticing to get into. Yes, you can technically play the alpha, but you don’t really get to do much about it, it truly feels as if you were playing some lesser version of EVE Online. Perhaps this is what they aimed for all along, Star Citizen really feels like some sort of clone of EVE Online without the cool things. Yet there is so much time one can spend with games.
I don’t believe its worth it to drop 800 dollars on some virtual ship, let alone dropping 3 million in another one, the prices behind all of these virtual items that don’t even exist is crazy. Unfortunately micro transactions are deep rooted into the gaming sphere because people didn’t push back enough against horse armor, if we stood up against these companies, perhaps they would know how important respecting the customer is. Best one can do is just ignore Star Citizen and not fall for the trap of a virtual space life.
