Prince of Persia: Sands of Time is one of the most beloved titles in Ubisoft’s classic Prince of Persia trilogy that came out around two decades ago. Memorable for it’s earnest and fantasy tale of the Sands that can manipulate Time in a myriad of ways, the Prince of Persia trilogy also contained many unique design elements that went on to influence future Ubisoft games such as Assassin’s Creed. With it’s wall-running parkour mechanics, fun and replayable combat involving exciting abilities like rewinding and slowing down Time, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remains a cherished trip down memory lane of everyone who had played it back in the day.
And that’s why, the upcoming remake of the iconic game is more than worthwhile whether you have played the original or not. However, according to Insider Gamer, it looks like Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake will be arriving even sooner than many of us had anticipated and may launch prior to the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake. As per sources close to the game, it may be released around mid-January next year, which means we might be only a couple months away from playing the remake.
Also, sources believe that we may get an official look at the upcoming game at The Game Awards on December 11, 2025 and that’s also where the actual release date will be revealed as well. It kind of makes sense for Ubisoft to present an official look at the remake of Sands of Time to build up some hype cause not a lot of gamers today have played the original as it came out nearly two decades ago.
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake was first announced in 2020 and went through a tricky development cycle where it’s initial release date of January 2021 got pushed to March 2021 and was later delayed multiple times with the game now finally expected to come out early next year. The remake is expected to feature a more realistic approach towards the gameplay of the original including whole new mechanics for both combat and parkour, overhauled graphics (obviously), new animations and more.
