The winner entries to the first phase of the C.A.M.P. Revamp community contest of Fallout 76 were revealed by Bethesda Softworks, which carried the theme, “Rebuild Appalachia.” This was one of the events, celebrating the recent C.A.M.P. Revamp patch, where it encouraged players to utilize the new building tools to come up with very complex unique bases anywhere in the game’s world. The submissions, open until September, showed the powerful new capabilities brought about by the quality-of-life update.
The four winning C.A.M.P. designs showcased a stunning diversity from both concept and execution. ChrisTiina’s Appalachian Sky Garden was creatively inspired from Castle in the Sky, a 1986 film from Studio Ghibli, thus resulting into a beautiful, vertically-oriented structure. Meanwhile, the more grounded but quite elaborate My Treehouse from socialiteX features a fully functioning spiral staircase in a nice little two-story design. NukaMegs’ catering to Reclamation Rosel said it was a sporty and colorful flower and garden shop, attempting to restore the beauty of the ravaged wasteland. The last winner is from ash_lemonjello’-the Skyline Valley Garden Bunker which gives a functional security yet aesthetically pleasing, cozy interior.
Indeed, this contest was specifically put up to celebrate and highlight the highly significant C.A.M.P. Revamp patch that has brought about fundamental changes to base construction in Fallout 76. Apart from opening greater avenues for creativity, the update has incorporated remade workshop menu options, altered granularity in decoration categories, as well as de-escalated construction restrictions. The whole aim was to empower the community to make larger, more complete, and diverse settlements than what had been possible. The varied success of winning entries alone validates this update.
The “Rebuild Appalachia” round marks the start of a contest that will stretch into four parts until the end of the year. Already under way is the second one, which is themed Halloween for October. Other stages include a Casino-themed build, “The House Always Wins,” for November. Finally, the title of the December stage is “The Kindest Dwellers Ever Known,” which challenges players to contribute not just impressive designs but also provide real support for new players in game-within the context of the game’s community spirit.
