DLsite has created a new payment method to bring some hope in the current Media Censorship Wars. We are receiving hits from everywhere, and it seems that nobody is stopping in trying to regulate all disasters that are happening. People in power is more than happy to try to squash our creativity and freedom away than to solve wars, deal with emerging dangerous technologies like “AI” and uphold some standards of living for people to progress. We are resilient however, and DLsite is a huge ally that has been with us since the early days of indie gaming, being founded in 1996.
DLsite stands where Steam couldn’t
So far, Japanese companies are taking a massive stance against censorship, protecting freedom of expression. There has been an ongoing battle to ensure we don’t have a voice, and that companies can tell us which things we can buy and which things are off limits. We have control over our money, and we can do as we please with it, so DLsite decided it was time to ditch Visa and Mastercard to prepare for the adoption of Minna no Ginko, tied directly to Japanese banks which still allows them to operate as usual.
This is massive, as it ensure that operations can still be done in a rather smooth way, while the inconvenience of losing Visa or Mastercard might be rather big in the great scheme of things we don’t need them, they can disappear for all we care. Whoever attempts to oppose creativity in any way deserves some sort of retribution, and it that retribution is not letting them get more cash so be it. We are free to follow our own beat when making things and nobody should tell us where we should go or what we should do, imposing the thoughts they want on us is totally uncool.
