The developers of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 have confirmed a significant expansion of the RICOCHET anti-cheat system. They are integrating advanced machine learning models and improved detection logic to address issues that have affected the franchise’s online multiplayer experience. This initiative aims to create a fairer environment for the upcoming title and is described by the studio as “the most significant leap RICOCHET has taken to date.” This comes after analyzing millions of hours of data collected from Black Ops 6 gameplay.
The updates focus on three key areas of digital defense. One major enhancement is a new ability to differentiate between legitimate player movement and the precise mechanics of aimbot software. At the same time, the system will now identify players using “wall hacks,” which give an unfair advantage by allowing them to see enemies through in-game obstacles, much more quickly. These primary functions are supported by layered defenses that will make it much harder for cheat developers to bypass security measures and disrupt gameplay.
In addition to software updates, the studio is setting stricter requirements for PC users wanting to access Black Ops 7. Specifically, users must now have hardware-level security measures like Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled. These requirements will work with the improved RICOCHET system to create a stronger barrier against malicious accounts. This upgraded defense will not only apply to the new title but also to the accompanying Call of Duty: Warzone experience.
All these security updates, including the machine learning system, faster detection tools, and hardware requirements, will be in place during the public beta phase. The test period starts on October 2 for early access holders and opens to all players on October 5 before ending on October 8. This beta will be the first live test of the new anti-cheat features ahead of the global game release on November 14. For a franchise that depends on a fair and competitive environment, the success of this bold new strategy will be vital for keeping its player base.
