Turtle WoW is under the attack of Blizzard, it seems that the company is citing their legal defenses as copyright infrigement, which is unfortunately right. The people behind Turtle WoW are in big trouble because Blizzard isn’t wrong when trying to defend their own IP, however, Blizzard should stop being greedy and provide players with the ability to host the servers themselves. A ton of live service games are lost thanks to being sunset by their developers and the fate of World of Warcraft is that of a game that will disappear soon if things aren’t preserved. We at Infinite Start will cover what might happen.
Turtle WoW is at risk
Private servers close down all the time, the powerful are able to wield copyright as a weapon, while those being affected by companies like Blizzard, who have stolen art in the past cannot really speak against such crimes because they don’t have financial backing. These massive corporations are built on tons of capital, and they can wage any amount of legal battles they want without any repercussion. This is a basic tactic they do employ, drain their perceived enemy out of money by fighting endless cases against them even if they lose.
Instigating justice like this should be fraudulent, but we live in a world where the most powerful companies aren’t punished in any shape or form, as if they were ruling us. Unfortunately, they are asking for donations for a fan expansion, Mysteries of Azeroth, that has been done in Turtle WoW, so this was the crux of their work. If they hadn’t done so then perhaps Turtle WoW wouldn’t be in such a massive trouble like it is now where there is a huge chance that the private server just ceases to be altogether. If they remove this content, I believe that Blizzard should stop chasing them out and leave them be.
