Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be getting a surprise new story-based DLC later in 2025, offering players whole new chapters and missions set in 9th century AlUla, the ancient oasis city now found in Saudi Arabia, Ubisoft has officially announced in their Twitter/ X account. The upcoming DLC will also bring gameplay improvements for both the base game along with the new missions, which possibly means new mechanics for both stealth and combat as well.
And considering the fact that Assassin’s Creed Mirage has one of the best stealth in the franchise but some of the weakest combat, the gameplay additions could be improvements to one of these or perhaps both areas. Maybe it could make the general combat experience a bit better than it was in the base game, which would be great.
The release of whole new contents for Assassin’s Creed Mirage was not at all surprising considering a deal had taken place earlier this year between Ubisoft and Saudi Arabia’s controversial Public Investment Fund that was centered around additional contents for Mirage, though Ubisoft didn’t comment on it at that time.
Also, AlUla seems like a great fit for an Assassin’s Creed title considering it’s an UNESCO World Heritage site with more than 7,000 years of history which indicates an impressive range of historical richness and possibilities, serving as a suitable backdrop for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, from both story and gameplay perspectives. The city is also filled with massive rock formations which would fit extremely well for Mirage’s parkour elements and the general gameplay loop that any Assassin’s Creed title thrives on.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage came out in 2023 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and most recently iOS devices. The game received acclaim for it’s highly evolved and enjoyable stealth mechanics along with a return to form to the franchise’s early days of city-based adventure.
