Developer Hanger 13 has released the second Hotfix patch for Mafia: The Old Country which focuses on improving the game’s performance during in-game cinematics which were previously locked at 30FPS. The latest Hotfix lets you manually change a setting in the game’s Graphics menu to un-cap your FPS in cinematics which should provide a far more seamless experience while playing cause it can be really jarring to see your FPS suddenly dip during story moments.
The new Hotfix also includes some stability improvements in Mafia: The Old Country so you can certainly expect the game not to crash if it did earlier and be more stable overall.

Cinematics
- Set the default value for Cinematic Framerate to Unlimited instead of 30FPS for new players. If you have already played the game, you should change this setting manually via the Graphics menu.

Mafia: The Old Country got an earlier Hotfix patch on Aug 13 which had fixed missing ground textures when played on a certain series of Graphics cards and while it wasn’t a particularly huge bug or anything, the swift fix from the devs were definitely appreciated.
In other news of the game, developer Hanger 13 has also confirmed ‘Free Ride’ mode coming to Mafia: The Old Country along with “new activities and gameplay”, all in the form of a free update expected to arrive in the coming months. The Free Ride mode is a familiar gameplay feature in all Mafia titles and offers unrestricted exploration of the game’s gorgeous and detailed environments without any mission objectives, basically you can just move through the maps in vehicles with complete freedom while still find in-game collectibles and maybe even secrets in the map.
And considering the realistic and beautiful visuals of the Unreal Engine 5 powered title, the upcoming Free Ride mode can turn out to be a literal tour-de-force in Mafia: The Old Country.
