Xbox is cancelling Contraband after the massive waves of layoffs that have been shaking the company. This is yet another game that got cancelled along Everwilds, and it seems that it will not be the last one to go to the chopping board. Hideo Kojima has been working on some project too, but it is possible that it will get cancelled if they keep going this way. This is the year of Microsoft blunders while Linux is just winning constantly, there really isn’t a reason to keep being held back by an outdated company with broken systems. We at Infinite Start will cover where this layoffs can lead us to.
Xbox is cancelling Contraband too
The co-op game Contraband is getting the axe and there’s nothing that can be done about it. From the hand of Avalanche Studios, it seems that we will never get to see the smugglers paradise become a reality, what could have been an interesting game is not but vaporware. Maybe there’s some private builds being held hostage awaiting for us to preserve them, but unless Microsoft twists their arm we will never know what the game was or how it played. These layoffs will only eat away the remaining creativity that existed at Microsoft.
Xbox might as well be done for too, the only thing keeping them afloat is the Game Pass, but at the same time it is what ruins them. Xbox, I suppose, will end up becoming a part of our gaming past in the coming years, as it didn’t really provide anything significant to players aside from subscription services that made ownership of our physical goods worse. If they were championing for consumer rights, maybe they would be the king of console gaming, but the reality is that we only have three monarchs who are tyrants and don’t want us to own our games.
