A new reality hits the gaming world in the United States as Nintendo announces a hike in prices for its popular Switch consoles and certain accessories. According to the company’s official website, the changes will take effect on August 3, 2025, stating that the price increase is due to the ‘market conditions.’
While the new official price listings have yet to be released from Nintendo, information from a reliable leaker, CentroLeaks, indicates that strikes will be significant under data received from a major retailer, Target. The Nintendo Switch OLED Model sees a $50 increase to $399.99, whereas the standard Nintendo Switch rises by $40 to settle at $339.99. Finally, the cheaper Nintendo Switch Lite would also witness a rise of around $30 to reach a new price of $229.99.
This would be a most important shift concerning the console, which for over eight years, has retained its price point since it was first introduced. Presently, this increase does not affect the recently released Nintendo Switch 2, which will remain pegged at its introductory amount of $449.99. All digital and physical game prices, along with Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions, have not been altered. However, the company stated that it would continue to monitor the U.S. market for potential changes. For many, it can only mean the beginning of a new chapter for the console, when upfront costs are at their highest ever.
