But thankfully, Ubisoft’s CFO has recently gave an update on the long anticipated remake of Sands of Time, which ought to provide some idea of the game’s actual release window.
As reported by PC Gamer, Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet stated in the company’s annual general meeting, “As you know, we’ve got some iconic brand names in our catalog that we can either activate or reactivate with little investment. This goes to the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which is going to be released very soon, or even Splinter Cell later on.”
Ubisoft has also posted on their social media account that the devs are currently in deep at making the modernized version of Sands of Time, and assured that it’s being built by a team that understands and cares about the original game and the unique flavor of gameplay it brought to the third person action adventure genre. Their statement is definitely promising as well as reassuring that the ramake is being treated with the love and reverence it deserves which will definitely make the final gameplay experience all the more worthwhile, when it actually comes out.
The Sands of Time Remake was first expected to release in 2021 but since has been delayed multiple times and according to Ubisoft, the delayes were largely due to the devs’ focus on delivering the quality that fans associate the original games with which is perfectly understandable. The game is currently expected to come out sometimes in 2026, although no launch window has been announced so far.
