A popular Donald Trump mod in Marvel Rivals was recently banned by Nexus mods apparently due to the violation of some sociopolitical rules by Nexus. The ban of the controversial Donald Trump mod didn’t come as much of a surprise to Marvel Rivals fans as many players already expected such. And again, this wasn’t the first time that Nexus had banned a politics-related mod.
In 2020, during the Trump X Biden presidential election, Nexus published an article which encouraged mod users to report mods relating to sociopolitical issues in the United States, even stating that such mods would be banned. The article depicted the seriousness of such mods, but of course, modders didn’t take it too seriously.
The Donald Trump mod was launched for the popular Vanguard character in Marvel Rivals, Captain America, and was available on Nexus up until now. The mod caused mixed reactions on social media with many requesting for a Joe Biden mod, and others stating the mod didn’t really fit the Captain America build it was available for.
Mods in Marvel Rivals are exciting features that enable players to include different skins from Marvel Comics, movies, Fornite Models of characters, and even real-life figures, with the Donal Trump mod being no exclusion.
The ban of the Donald Trump mod was identified recently when Marvel Rivals players spotted that the page leading to the mod in Nexus mods was reportedly removes and was leading to an error page. That said, there are many other Donald Trump mods for other games that are still present on Nexus mods, which of course, would soon be discovered by Nexus and banned. Although fans weren’t surprised by the ban, some who hadn’t tried ut out yet, were somewhat dissapointed. Nexus has been literally cleansing it’s community of mods that violate the rules, and from the looks, they’re seeking a future of mods free of sociopolitical inclusions.
