Microsoft Wants to Bring Classic Capcom Games to Xbox

Microsoft is actively collaborating with Capcom to resolve technical issues that have kept many classic Capcom games off Xbox consoles. This move aims to bring popular titles back to the Xbox platform, much to the delight of fans.

Capcom announced a new collection, The Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, set to release later this year for PC, Sony PS4, and Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, the collection and other re-released titles like SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos are skipping Xbox, leading to disappointment among Xbox fans. The primary reason for this omission is believed to be the MT Framework engine, which does not work well on Xbox One.

Jez Corden, speaking on the Xbox Two podcast, revealed that Microsoft is working closely with Capcom to resolve these issues. Corden, citing unnamed sources, stated that “Microsoft is actively working with Capcom to fix the MT Framework problem.” This collaboration raises hopes that re-released Capcom games, including Great Ace Attorney and Monster Hunter Stories, might soon be available on Xbox.

Fans were particularly upset when Street Fighter V and other Capcom games bypassed Xbox, resulting in missed sales and a loss of presence in the fighting game community. However, with Microsoft’s renewed efforts, the future looks promising for Xbox users eager to play these classic games on their preferred platform.
