It turns out players on the Nintendo Switch 2 will have to wait for quite a while to be able to experience 007 First Light on their handheld console, as the game’s release has just been delayed once again. According to the studio, 007 First Light will now target a March 2027 release on the new console, which means players will have to wait around 10 months to play the game on-the-go.
IO Interactive has just shared the following statement with their community which states:
“We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond’s reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm. To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later. This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game.”
However, despite the delay, the response from players on the Nintendo platform has been generally positive, with some hoping that the studio may release 007 First Light on a physical Switch 2 cartridge instead of using a Game-Key Card.
In last month, developer IO Interactive had officially announced that the recent James Bond title has now surpassed a total of 4 million sold units worldwide, and has hit the impressive sales milestone in less than three months after launch. Moreover, the devs also confirmed that they’re committed to expand the experience with more in-game contents set to release throughout the year, as detailed in it’s one-year roadmap.
007 First Light came out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 27th May and swiftly became the highest rated James Bond title in the last 15 years, or even more. Selling past over 3 million copies in it’s first month and garnering a highly impressive 87 Metacritic score, developer IO Interactive’s 007 First Light shines vividly and is certainly the best Bond game in several decades.
