Marvel’s Wolverine comes out today and even though it didn’t turn out to be as much of a critical hit as Insomniac’s previous Spider-Man titles, Liam McIntyre, who has played the titular character in the game, remains unfazed by the negative reception and has taken to social media to state that he is “proud as hell” of the title.
In response to one of the players’ comments, the Wolverine actor has stated the following on his Twitter/X:
“Ha. Man, my career started with the responsibility of taking over for the incredible Andy Whitfield in Spartacus (RIP to that legend). I’ve read things you couldn’t believe 🙂 I just hope everyone has fun. I’m proud as hell of this game. It’s a blast.”
McIntyre had also expressed his gratitude on playing the iconic character in the Insomniac title in a post made several days ago:
“I don’t know what the fates have in store for us tomorrow, but I just want to say thank you to everyone for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Thank you to @MarvelGames and @insomniacgames for trusting me with such a beloved character. I’m so proud. What a journey.”
So far, Wolverine has got a 77 Metascore which is the lowest of all modern Insomniac titles, and these are some of the review scores of the action adventure title:
- IGN – 6/10
- Tech Radar – 4/5
- GamesRadar – 3/5
- Checkpoint Gaming – 8/10
- GameSpot – 6/10
Developer Insomniac has also confirmed that they’re currently aiming to “further refine the player experience” based on feedback, and has stated that they’re “incredibly proud” of the game.
Marvel’s Wolverine comes in two different editions–the Standard edition of the game will cost you $69.99 while the Digital Deluxe version sports a price tag of $79.99. There’s no mention of a collector’s edition that’s geared towards enthusiasts so if you were hoping for physical collectibles like statues and maybe action figures, looks like there won’t be any of that.
