CD Projekt Red Confirms Progression and Trophy Migration for The Witcher 3 Remaster

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that player save files, unlocked achievements, and trophy progress from the original release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will transfer directly to the upcoming remastered edition. The announcement, shared via an official post on X, addresses long-standing questions from the community regarding how existing campaign progress would be handled across console generations and upgraded hardware platforms.

The cross-progression architecture applies across all supported platforms, ensuring that players who invested hundreds of hours into the 2015 RPG will not need to restart their journey from scratch. According to technical details outlined by the studio, local save data and cloud saves tied to user accounts will automatically sync upon launching the updated software. Achievements and trophies earned on previous-generation hardware will retroactively unlock upon loading a corresponding save file, preserving completion stats and profile rankings.

This migration support extends to all official content released for the title, including the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. Players loading endgame saves will retain their character levels, gear sets, Gwent card collections, and narrative decisions without requiring manual file conversions or third-party transfer utilities. The system is designed to integrate directly with platform-level account services to minimize friction during the update process.

The confirmation comes as CD Projekt Red prepares to launch the upgraded edition ahead of its broader release roadmap for the franchise. By removing the technical barrier of reset progression, the developer aims to maintain engagement among core players while establishing a unified framework for future content releases within the series.
