Volunteers developing Project Sunrise, an ambitious fan-made mod for Destiny 2, have successfully implemented working Season Passes and Artifact perks into the client. As reported by Game Rant, developer Nyxaraaaa recently demonstrated that players can now view seasonal reward tracks, claim earned items, and purchase Artifact mods directly through a fully functional menu interface within the custom environment.
The achievement marks a rapid evolution for the project, which launched mere weeks ago as an experimental tool meant strictly to explore vaulted locations. In a short window, the volunteer team expanded its scope to support functioning quests, custom loadouts, and playable legacy content, including the vaulted Leviathan Raid. Seasonal XP progression now accurately calculates Artifact power bonuses and grants spendable perk points, bringing the mod significantly closer to replicating live server functionality.
Because Bungie stripped back active support for Destiny 2—leaving the title without a dedicated live team for new seasonal updates—the player base has increasingly turned to community-driven preservation efforts. While items earned within Project Sunrise remain isolated strictly to the mod environment and cannot transfer to official live servers, the framework provides an accessible path for players to experience older narrative beats and progression tracks like those featured in Season of Arrivals.
Looking forward, the development team aims to resolve lingering technical issues, including persistent mod effects following resets, while integrating remaining campaign structures from expansions like Shadowkeep. Project Sunrise joins a growing list of independent preservation endeavors aimed at maintaining historical access to the franchise’s vast catalog of vaulted content.
